Kmart Double Couponing fun at Walmart

I will just say it. I am not a fan of Kmart. But that's another story or two or three.

So, I went to some today in a last attempt to get my Airheads for free. There is a 50 cent off coupon. Doubled, up to 99 cents, made them free at Kmart. Well, I didn't have stockpiling luck at the Kmart today. I could only find 27 Airheads. And when you have 100 plus coupons.....it can be disappointing. I guess you can say that I am tenacious. I definitely don't give up easily.

I have been reading several blogs which are talking about Ridleys and how some Walmarts near Ridleys (here in Utah, in Cedar Hills, AF, etc) are matching Ridleys double coupon Tuesday deal. Well, my local Walmart is not doing this as we don't have a Ridleys close by.

So, using that logic, I thought maybe my Walmart would match Kmart's double coupon deal this week. Well, I went to customer service, showed them my Kmart ad, and it was a no-go. It's about 11:10pm. I know that my coupons which expire 3/30 are almost dead.

On a crazy whim, I decide to drive down to the Walmart in Cedar Hills to see if they will match the Kmart deal. What a good decision. They said they would honor it. So, 112 packages of Airheads later...............

Need I say more? Anyway, I can't promise they will honor your Kmart ad at Cedar Hills, but I bet they will. They did mine.

I was a little disappointed :) I expected to get money back. I always forget about that tax part. So, I did end up paying $2.18. Not to mention the $1 I spent for each pack of $20 coupons...totalling about $8 with shipping. Not bad for all our playdates this summer. Should be fun.

So, ladies and gentlemen, get out that Kmart ad, gather your coupons that are under $1 and head to the Cedar Hills Walmart----if you are up for an adventure. Sometimes you have to take risks......FUN TIMES.  Now I have to gather enough energy and time to see if I want a Round 2. Hmmmm.

KMART

Check it out. Kmart is doubling coupons up to 99 cents this week.

Kellogg's $10 Gas Rebate.

You can get up to 5 rebates per family. What a great rebate. Sounds like you just need 10 UPC's from specified Kellogg's cereals. I am sending in one today and will see how it goes. YAY! Get those Kellogg cereal coupons: $1 off 2 to make it a sweeter deal.

http://www2.kelloggs.com/AARP/rewards/FIMSingle.pdf

Here is a great deal finder and what she is doing. Granted, it is with Albertson's....which may or may not be near you.

Beer Rebates in Utah

So, on many of the beer rebates, it says you must buy beer. But, if you read the fine print, in certain states, Utah being one of them, they are not legally allowed to make you buy beer. (Read the fine print on back.) I just got an $8 check today from one of them, and I put in for 7 more today. It's such a score, no-brainer. Some require you to put in the UPC, but most require the rebate form (original, no photocopies) and the original receipt. You just have to remember to do separate transactions when you are buying for several of your rebates. Although, I have heard that Smith's will print you up to 4 receipts per transaction. I have not tried that to see if it is true.

Again, to get the beer rebates, sometimes you have to walk down the beer aisle and hope to catch some. If not, you can always check Pinchingyourpennies.com, the Utah forum, beer rebates (trading) and you can often get them from someone for the cost of a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope.) The ones I just sent in, I sent away for from a sweet woman who mailed me all of them. Gotta' love all those great people out there willing to help out.

Rice-A-Roni and Pasta Roni

Right now they have the buy 10 get $5 off at Smith's. If you buy 3 Rice A Roni's you can get a Pasta Roni free. (Coupon from several weeks ago, and they have peelies on many of the Rice A Roni's). Anyway, the coupon gives you up to $2 off for the Pasta Roni. They end up being 79 cents each with the $5 off and then they give you the cost of the Pasta Roni off (up to $2). The coupon itself gives you $2 off. Some cashiers adjust it, some don't.

Let's just say I stocked up and then some. I love making Rice Pilaf with onions and shrimp. Yummy. We will be having lots. Especially because of all my beer rebates that required me to buy seafood. I am now stocked up in the shrimp department too. YUM!

Gold 'n Soft Spread at Harmons

There is a great deal on Gold 'n Soft at Harmons starting today through April 3rd. 15 oz. tubs are 2 for $2.00. There is a coupon in Smartsource from 11/21/10 for 50 cents off each tub or $1.50 off 2 tubs. That makes them either 25 cents or 50 cents each. Since they didn't have enough tubs for me, they let me buy some of the quarters in place of them (which they might not let you do). A great deal. And the coupon expires on 3/31. That's why I love coupons. Just waiting for the deal.

There is also a coupon for Frank's Red Hot Sauce for 50 cents off. They are on sale for 2/1, which makes them a freebie.

Harmon's also has Krunchers! Potato Chips 2 for $4. Use your $1 off coupon from several weeks ago, and they will be $1 a bag.

Harmon's Pineapples is only 88 cents a pound. Some good Harmons deals this week. Stock up time!

One More Great Smith's Deal..............

Look for the peelies found on Kellogg's Chocolate Rice Krispies (or whatever they call them---Kellogg's brand). The peelies give you a free bag of M&M's (up to $2.99) with purchase of two boxes. Last week I stocked up on cereal and milk when they were giving you two free gallons of milk when you bought 4 boxes of the Rice Krispy Treats (Kelloggs) which were 4 boxes for $10. Then, along with that I got 2 free bags of M&Ms. The milk deal is no longer there, but if you have the $1 off of 2 Kellogg cereal coupons, and you use them, You can get 2 boxes of cereal and a free bag of M&M's for $4. Not bad at your local Smiths. It's all about those peelies.....

Smith's Motrin Deal

What is fun about coupons is buying bulk high value coupons and waiting for them to show the great deal. So, I found out this week that I could finally use my $6 off of 2 Motrin (found in 1/9 Smartsource---Sunday paper coupons) coupons. (these high value coupons expire 3/31---so we were getting close to it ending.)  Smiths had an unadvertised buy 10 and they will be $2.50 each deal on the Motrin. Meaning, I make $1 off two bottles. Well, I bought 22. The checker was a little funny, she stopped taking coupons when we got to -22 cents. But hey, I will take it. I bought 22 bottles (20 count Motrin), 7 Philadelphia Cooking Cream cheeses (with $1.50 off coupon, making them 50 cents each---but free for me because of Motrin) and 3 Anytizer Appetizers (chicken wings).

So, feel free to come by if you are wanting some Motrin PM. Maybe they will be neighbor gifts next Christmas....ha-ha.

Good deal with getting back about 22 cents. Can't complain. I also have a beer rebate that will give me back $4 or $5 on the chicken wings.

So, just an FYI. You may not drink alcohol, but in Utah, and many other states, they cannot require you to buy alcohol in their rebates. So, you have to buy snack foods, shrimp, etc and you can get the rebate. Last night I took advantage of a shrimp rebate. You have to purchase $25.01 in shrimp and they will give you $15 back. We eat a lot of shrimp around here, so that is a good one.

Beer Rebate Tip: If you go to Pinching your Pennies, Utah Forums, check out the beer rebate trading board. There are many people willing to send you a rebate if you send them a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Just yesterday I received in the mail about 10-12 beer rebates from a sweet lady who sent me one of each. So, lots of free food on the beer companies. Thank you!!!! (Often they state only one rebate per household or person. So you only need one anyway.)

LittleMaven.com

Tori Spelling may be annoying, but she is having a sale on her kids clothing line which includes frees shipping. So, of course I had to order a cute bathing suit for my little girl. The cost was around $8 with shipping. A good deal. I hope it's cute. Maybe it comes with free plastic surgery for the Mommies.

Smith's Part 2....I outdid myself.

Wow! Even my husband was impressed....

How much do you think I paid for the following?

2 (10 packs of Butterfingers)
10 Classico Pasta Sauce (Alfredo)
120 Powerades
65 Vitamin Waters
15 Ronzoni Garden Delights

Well, my grand total was $11.15.

And granted, I did use my $5 Smith's coupon that I got yesterday in my haul.

Yes, $11.15. And $6.27 was tax. I end up paying more for tax than for my haul.

So, I had $99.00 in manufacturer coupons, I had $156.00 in Fresh Values Savings for a total savings of 98%. My savings totalled $255.11.

A great day. And we will be VERY well hydrated at all our playdates this Spring and Summer...for baseball, and maybe even football.

So, just to explain a little. I had 10 peelie coupons from Classico sauce from the past. They were $1/1 coupons. So, the sauce ended up being 50 cents each for each jar.

I found some coupons (at another supermarket) for $1.00 off of 2 for Vitamin Water, making it free. And I had 30 of those coupons. SCORE! (I happened to be visiting my cousin today in Tooele, and while visiting the Albertson's there, we came upon these coupons, which worked out PERFECT for my haul tonight.)

I bought 40 Powerade coupons off of ebay. They were $1.00 off of 3. I paid $6.50 for 20 coupons and bought 2 packs of those. So, I essentially paid about $14.00 for my 120 Powerades, and then 6 cents on top of that for each one, if that makes any sense.

Then, my Garden Ronzoni Delight $1/1 coupon was a money maker of 50 cents a box, which helped pay for some chocolate. I only could find 15 boxes, so I had to buy 5 more Vitamin Waters to get the $5 off of 10 items deal. (Also bought off a coupon site several weeks ago when they first came out).  If you see a high value coupon on an item that you use frequently, buy them in bulk. Usually they come in handy later. And they won't go to waste if you use the product a lot...especially if you have a big family like we do.

An FYI, always be on the lookout for peelies and coupons.....and save them for a great sale. Ebay can always help when you don't have coupons in hand.

Walgreens this Week

There are two great deals I found at Walgreens this week. Pantyhose for 79 cents each (with coupon in Walgreens ad) and their econo brand soda (2 L) for 39 cents each (with Walgreens ad coupon). A quick stop, a little money, and we got some cheap, fun things.

And wow, my kids love them some cheap, nasty orange soda.

Smith's Haul

Oh what a night, and I am not even talking naughtiness---ha-ha!

I know, I need to get a life.

Smith's + no kids + hubby + coupons= one night of fun.

Sad, but true.

So, to sum up my night, this is what I bought at our Smith's:

2 Welch's Refrigerated Grape Juice
3 Diet Coke (2 Liter)
2 Gallons of Milk
6 Vitamin Water
4 (24 packs) of Nestle Water bottles (20 oz)
3 Bags of Salt (water softener)
1 Peanut M&M bag
4 Cocoa Krispies
50 Pasta Boxes Ronzoni

So, how much do you think I paid?
A startling $6.97. And I got a $5 coupon for my next visit. I wanted to cry and bear my coupon testimony. Instead, I smiled and thanked my favorite checker who is so nice.
The End.
Great date night.

So, how did I do it? Well, Smith's has the buy 10 get $5 off going right now.
If you buy 4 of the Nestle Water packs you get back a $5 coupon.
I had 50 coupons for $1 off Ronzoni. They are 50 cents each, so I actually made back $25 in groceries.
They also have a deal, buy 4 cereals get 2 milks free. There was a peelie on the cereal (I could only find one darnit) that gave you a free M&M bag if you bought 2 cereals. So really, I got gypped out of an M&M bag, but I won't complain.

Since I bought 4 waters, I had to buy 6 vitamin waters to get my 10 there.

I also had $1 off 2 kelloggs cereals (4) and I had $1 off the Welch's juice. And then the free M&M coupon.
Now that's what I am talking about.

I saved $61.99 in manufacturer coupons and $71 in Fresh Values for a total of $140.41. Total: $6.97 with a $5 off my next visit. (Picture is not including three bags of salt pellets)

Take note: I cannot make any guarantees about what may happen at your Smith's. Some checkers won't let coupon exceed price of item, which means no free groceries, but at least you will get your pasta free. Just for the record, I have found that males tend to be less anal on such things, whereas older women often feel the money you save is coming out of their paycheck....just an FYI:)

So, do I need 160 packages of Mentos?

No, but yeah, that is the name of this blog. Stockpile. It's all about the stockpile. And that is divided between two flavors.....(justification). See, I am at least aware of some of my thinking errors.

The other good news: not so hard to store those little buggers. Didn't have to go clearing out the pantry for this haul.

The Walmart was really niceabout my price-match with the Rite Aid ad. Sweet.

Cheating on Smith's

So, I was at Walmart getting all my free Mentos this morning. As I am checking out, I see a checker from Smiths. He smiles at me. I smile, realizing he is probably soooo happy I am not using my coupons in his line at the Smith's.  As he passes me again he says, "We're cheating."

Had to laugh. Grateful for checkers with a sense of humor. And sort of frightened that they are recognizing me.

Great Way to Save on Fruits and Vegetables

A great way to save on "the perishables" is to price match the best deals at Walmart. Thank goodness for the lists and time that others go to so we can all save $ so easily.

Check this list out for the best deals in Utah on Perishables:

What is great about Pinching Your Pennies is that they have a forum in every state, and chances are they have a "Perishables" list in your area, and chances are you have a Walmart, so you are pretty much set wherever you go.

Utah Grocery Guru

So, a no-brainer for any person in the Utah County/SLC area, is to watch the Grocery Guru on Channel 2 News on Monday Morning. And yeah, I am not one who wants to get up at 5am and wait till he comes on. He usually comes on twice between 5-8am. So, thank goodness for TIVO. He chooses one store and gives you the great deals there. You can even go shop with him if you can call in time to get a spot with him on a Monday.

He highlighted some great deals at Macey's. The sale ends today, I believe, so you better rush out and get them if you want them. The one that stood out to me were the Pop Tarts. They have an instore coupon. You combine that with the SS coupon (Poptarts) and you can get them for 50 cents a box (limit 4).  There were also great cereal deals, pizza deals, etc.

Here are all the details. http://www.gurusdeals.com/shopping_list.php
He also has a radio show....on Saturdays. Haven't tried that yet....but one of these day.......

Walmart's New Coupon Policy

http://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx

Walmart Fun

It is always fun when your total starts at $119.00 and then it goes down to $8.20.

That's what happened at Walmart yesterday.  I bought 36 of the 50 oz. Purex containers. They rang up at $2.98. I had a $3 off 1 coupon. Happened to have 36 of those coupons. Then I had the GAIN coupons for $3/1. You can only buy 4 of those in each shopping trip, so I did that. Walmart has a new Coupon Policy, making it so that if your coupon goes over the price of the item, you can actually get money back. I also bought a Dayquil/Nyquil. All of that came to $8.20. What a good day.

So, yeah, I think I will be OK in the laundry department.

It was also pretty enjoyable having my van full of the Purex. Smelled so sweet. Temporarily.

What it takes to be a couponer.........

1-Guts.....I admit, it can be very embarassing at times. You have your cart full of the same item. People look at you. Cashiers ask why you need so much. Cashiers ask where you got all the coupons. You get looks from all the people waiting behind you (I do always try to warn them.....).  Often checkers have various beliefs/thoughts about coupons, so you have to stick up for yourself, have policies in hand to show them, and hope for the best.

2-To be a couponer, one cannot suffer from any anxiety disorders. Couponing will only add to any anxiety condition one might have. So, if you suffer from anxiety, maybe you want to take up another hobby.

3-No kids. Just kidding, I have five. It is a lot easier when I leave the kids at home. You have to pay GREAT attention to the number of items you have, the number of coupons, and make sure everything is ringing up OK. This can be really hard when you have kids with you. Not undoable, but again, it takes double the guts when you have kids with you. Trying to reign the kids in, and get all your coupon deals.....it can be a rough gig.

4-You have to have a sense of strategy.  Couponing is like chess. You have to try to figure out which coupons might be freebies, order them, and hope for the good deal. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It only takes one great win to make you a coupon believer.

5-CRAZY factor. You have to be a bit crazy. And I mean, only the good kind of crazy. Luckily for me, I have a touch of this.

6-LUCK.  Sometimes it is all about hitting the right register....the right checkout person......the right store. I usually look for males....at each store, I have someone I look for. Some of these older women, they really think that all the coupon totals are being taken out of their paycheck. They look at each coupon---even if you have 60 of the same coupon, they have to check with the manager, they sigh, roll their eyes.....the line behind you is getting anxious and irritated....and you want your superhero invisibility power to kick in. Which hasn't quite worked for me yet, unfortunately. So, it becomes about prevention. You try to find someone easygoing. Men tend to be more easygoing....but that's not always true.  Through trial and error, and a couple hellish moments, you will figure this part out better and be able to make better checkout choices.

Do I Really Need this Much.........

Purex?

Well, maybe not, but when it ends up being nearly free......why not?

You have to be willing to take chances sometimes. And hey, I prefer couponing to Vegas....so........sometimes I enjoy taking some coupon gambles.....

Luckily for me, this gamble paid off.

The $3/1 coupon was for Purex with Zout. I didn't know if I would be able to find this exact product or not. Luckily for me, this coupon worked for any type of the Purex. And has worked at all the stores I have gone to; Walmart and Smith's.

I bought 60 coupons of Purex online.  They cost me $5.50 for 20 coupons. So, I spent a total of about $18.00 with shipping.

For that $18.00 I got 60 (50 oz) bottles of Purex.  The coupons stated they were for Purex with Zout, which cannot hardly be found. So, I tried my coupon for any variety of the Purex. It worked. It worked at the Walmart ; where Purex was listed for $2.98.  It also worked at the Smith's where some Purex was on Clearance for $2.19. I bought 21 there, so I was able to spend about $16 on other groceries for free. I was so thrilled at that receipt.

I came out of the Smith's having spent $6.13.

For that $6.13 I was able to buy:

21 (50 oz) Purex
Buitoni Fresh Pasta (had downloaded a free coupon from Smith's online couponing)
Whipped Cream
Welch's Grape Juice
1 lime
1 kiwi
12 glazed donuts
2 white onions
1 head of lettuce
2 bunches of cilantro
12 Pack of Charmin (used $3 off online coupon from Smith's)

Sweet!
I love coupons.

I also used many of my $1 off coupons last week, to get the Purex for $1.18 each.  So, now I have over 70 bottles of Purex. And with my five kids, we will be using that. I love Purex. It smells so good, and that smell seems to last a bit longer than I have noticed with other laundry detergents. One more reason to love couponing.

So, at the end of the day, because of my free groceries that my Purex bought me, I really only spent about $2 on the coupons....and got 60 Purex for free. Sweet.

Coupon Fun

I have become a coupon fiend in the last six months. I love to find a freebie and then clear the shelves. I love to find a years supply of a favorite item, and stock up. In the last six months or so, I have stockpiled on the following items:

FINISH (dishwasher detergent)
NIVEA (body wash---Mens and Womens)
NIVEA (lip balm)
YAKISOBA
MANWICH
CAMPBELLS SOUP
PUREX (laundry detergent)
HERBAL ESSENCE shampoo
BIZ (laundry soap)

One of the benefits of couponing is finding new brands that I REALLY love.  I now LOVE Purex, Finish, Nivea, Biz....whereas in the past I would have never known how great these products are.

So, I will keep enjoying my coupon craziness and my stockpiling. Keep posted and I will let you know what my latest great deal is.
